Kaiser Permanente's Don't Buy the Lie is a campaign to raise awareness of smoke-related drugs and their health impact.
This was a creative contest limited to grades 6 - 12 students in my local school district, where the winning submission would be displayed on a highway billboard. Amongst digital art submissions from 10 other middle and high schools, my poster was awarded runner-up.
JUULs, also known as electronic cigarettes, were a common issue in my local high school I wanted to base my poster on. The message plays on the similarities between "JUUL" and "jewel". With jewels, I think of someone who stands out of the crowd, elegantly dressed up with luxurious accessories. I twisted this idea in the opposite direction, creating an emotionally evocative image of a heart riddled with bandages and stitches.
